Arun Khopkar is best known for his films on the arts including Figures of Thought, Santiniketan on painting and Narayan Gangaram Surve on poetry, which have all won national and international awards. His feature film Katha Doan Ganpatraonchi has been shown at the Moscow, Cairo, Sarajevo and Beppu (Japan) international film festivals and his book on Guru Dutt won the National Award for the best book on cinema.
