An engineering graduate turned independent filmmaker, Leena has extensive experience as television producer and has worked as line producer in BBC and Aljazeera English. Internationally recognised for her experimental and short films, her work has been screened at various festivals including Chicago Women in Director's Chair International Film Festival, Europe Movies International Film Festival, Toronto Independent Art Film Festival, Paris and Norway Independent Film Festivals, Birds Eye View International Film Festival and Belgrade Women’s Eye Documentary Film Festival, among others. Leena is an established Tamil poet with critically acclaimed anthologies, a publisher of widely recognised titles by renowned writers in alternative Tamil literature and a media consultant. She is also involved in conducting workshops on direction, production, acting, filmmaking and video production for various institutions and runs Kanavuppattarai, a media firm, which is into publication and media training.
